Ballet Blanc

Hey everyone! Happy Monday!

Once again, I hope everyone is staying indoors while also keeping distance and staying safe. Take each day one at a time!

Today I am writing to you guys about something I have never heard of- It’s called Ballet Blanc. Knowing this is part of my dance homework.

Ballet Blanc is know or translated as “White Ballet”. Ballet Blanc is often applied to ballet dancers wearing white tutus traditionally worn in Giselle or Sylphides.

This originally came about in 19th century Romantic ballet. Ballerina portray their character as seeking love that blooms beyond the grave.

Within a scene of the Ballet Blanc, a ballerina will be wearing white tulle ballet dresses or tutus, along with several underskirts and a bodice.

Ballet Blanc first originated in 1832 in La Sylphide. One of the famous examples of Ballet Blanc being used is in Act 2 of Gisselle.

I hope you guys enjoy these facts and new fresh information in something new for me and you to know. I find it quite interesting. Maybe someday I will be apart of Ballet Blanc. I hope you all enjoy your week, stay safe!
