Hey guys, I recently auditoned for a modern dance company. This was a first for me, Im not used to dance auditions that involve a lot of floor work and throwing my knees to the ground. Although my nerves seemed to be calm, my mind was like “Oh God”. Walking into the room, I could see all these beautiful humans stretching and talking amongst themelves. Me, of course, im here all by myself, the quietest one of the all. Class starts as a nice warmup with side stretches and plies. Not to bad, right? Sweating furiously after 5 minutes of warmup, we go straight into across the floor. As my mouth starts to scream for water , I continue to proceed to across the floor dancing. This part was my favorite until she goes “And Left Side”. Left side is my challenge side, but hey, its dance. And now the combo. Learning the combination was awesome! I learned how quick my memory can captivate movements and detail. And 5,6,7,8. *Music Starts* Leg kick, roll, arms out, leap, inversion, arm around, and lunge, and turn around. TADAAA! and Done. It’s been one of those days, not a bad day, not an okay day, not a good day, but a pretty good day. I’ve done better auditions. I’ve learned from my mistakes and what I could have done better to make the next one more memorable and easier.
I did not get accepted into the company. I am not sad, happy, or shocked. I’m grateful because I had a wonderful opportunity. I tried my best without backing down. This was an awesome way to get out of my comfort zone and Improud of myself.
Good job! God has even better for you!
