Hello to all, I hope your week is going splendid! It Wednesday once again and today I have tips and tools for you all to utilize when you have lots of performances. For me, over the years in my dance journey, I have seen tremendous growth from my memory of learning choreography and this season of dance there are many different variations for me to learn within the next few weeks- months. These tools have been so helpful and I believe it will help you just as much:)
Let’s take a look at what the definition of choreography is 👇

How to pick up choreography quicker when you have lots of different variations/dances to learn. Scroll down to Tool #1👇
Tool #1 – Write down the choreography for you. Some dancers write choreography (tombe, pa de bourreè) and when reading you may not realize what you put so if writing notes for you is (step, back side, front, right foot steps to the right) or whichever method works for you, do it the way that works best. I find that my notebook is most important for me because I need notes.
Tool #2 – Take videos 🎥 you can choose to take videos of yourself doing the variation/dance or you can ask your teacher to get the dance filmed for you to watch. There both equally helpful but if you are choosing to have your teacher being filmed, I would recommend taking notes and still filing yourself so that you can fix any problems and work yourself to get better.
Tool #3 – pay attention to detail. Details especially in ballet are so important because the way the hand works and arms can change the whole entire dance. My teacher tells me to focus on where the head goes during which part as well as the hand/arms and coordinating it all as one. Details, details, details!
Tool #4 – Play your music everyday. Playing the music consistently will engrain the song in your brain and as the music plays you can dance to your song and/or go over it with your arms. This is common amongst dancers with lots of choreography to learn and is really helpful.
Thanks for reading along and learning something. May this be super useful for you. Enjoy the rest of your week! Follow my socials: (Instagram) _carman_dances (TikTok) carmanthedancingwarmen
